PhoneFusion Visual Voicemail: Thumbs Down

It’s a rarity that you’ll see me bashing an application on this site. But this G1 App was absolutely sub-par for me. I was excited to see that the G1 got a visual voicemail application and was hoping it could compete with the iPhone. Yes, it might be in its beta stage but that’s still not an excuse for extreme mediocrity.

Everything was all fine and dandy. I was in school and one of my good friends showed me the G1 Application, and I wanted it so I decided to download it on the spot. Went to their website registered my account and all that stuff. I got the test voicemail pressed the notification on my screen, cool, the voicemail played over speaker phone and I could see who it was from.

When I began missing phonecalls, I would always get a voicemail and never be able to hear it. The application force closed multiple times, and sent me dozens of texts with a garbled message (they say its Google’s fault. So what?) Anyways, once I got fed up I deleted the application. Thought I was done with it. WRONG! It had completely messed up my voicemail system. Everyone who called me though my phone was disconnected. Ridiculous.

I ended up having to call T-Mobile and they instructed me to dial ##004# which does a complete reset on your voicemail. Until this app gets out of beta and they work all the kinks out. I wouldn’t waste my time downloading it.

They actually state that before you uninstall their application, you need to deactivate the voicemail forwarding in their program otherwise calls won’t be directed to your carriers voicemail server. It’s in all that print before you choose to accept to use the program (not everyone reads it)

The interface doesn’t look as good as iPhone’s, but works as stated. Hopefully the interface improves after the Beta version and remains free.

As for the other problems you experienced, i just installed the app and started using it, so i havn’t received that many voicemails yet. Will report back here if i have the same problems.

Don’t know what the other comment was talking about, but I completely agree!! I finally got fed up with the application and when I un-installed it it was still eating my voicemails. It has potential, but still a long way to go.

I hate this app… I used to LOVE it. I uninstalled and now I can’t get my voice messages no more. I am trying to figure out how to fix this mess. It also, somehow, messed up my google voice number as well. SUCKS!!!

I totally agree with this post! It would either miss calls, not take messages, only record like 3 seconds,or have a toally garbled message that can only be played with a mp3 player (out loud_ that part really sucked!) This app is worthless garbage.

You people don’t know what you’re talking about. First, the review is ANCIENT, second people don’t read, third it can’t screw up google voice, they are mutually-exclusive, and fouth, you wouldn’t know a good app if someone gave you a million bucks to use it!

And as far as the ‘play it out loud’ comment, you are truly just stupid. READ the INSTRUCTIONS or even ask.

It works great, even with BT.
