Open Home
The Open Home G1 application is one of a number of home screen or “desktop” modification apps for the G1. This is easily one of the better ones, with a clean user interface and translucent controls that get out of your way and let you get things done. It also acts as a launcher for system applications such as the dialer, browser, and maps. It comes with a weather widget which some may find useful, but I personally didn’t like it very much, so I was able to just get rid of it.
It also adds a soft keyboard to the Google search function, but that can be removed if you don’t like it. This application is highly customizable. If you enjoy minimalism in your user interfaces, this is the app for you. It is also highly skinnable, with several skins available on the Market (both free and paid). The Open Home application sells for $3.99 on the Market.
