Pandora for Android
Pandora is finally available for the G1 and Android. This popular music streaming service works by building smart playlists based on the kind of music you like. As expected, this G1 app is slick, functional, and comes with a home screen widget that lets you control and vote without needing to launch the app every time. Needless to say, it works in the background and you can run any number of other apps while the music continues to stream smoothly. Playlists and new smart radio stations are easy to create and train. The thumbs-up and thumbs-down are available at the bottom of the playing track along with other player controls.
Under the menu you can buy and share apps as well as set bookmarks and change settings. You can create a Pandora account from within the app and creating new radio stations is identical to the process on the website – you can search based on the song title, album name, or singer. Pandora can be a little heavy on the battery-life on your G1, so keep an eye on that battery meter as you use this app. You can toggle between a high quality stream and a lower-quality one for slower networks. Both are very good, and only true audiophiles may notice the difference for certain soundtracks. Overall, this is a great app for the G1, and comes after a long wait.
